Seismic activity has intensified in the Round Valley area, with a third earthquake striking last evening. The magnitude 3.1 quake shook the region shortly after 10 p.m. on October 30th.
Though it was relatively minor and likely went unfelt by most residents, the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) confirmed it occurred at a shallow depth of around 2 miles below ground.
This follows two earlier quakes over the weekend, registering magnitudes of 3.6 and 2.8, approximately 6.5 miles from Susanville.
The USGS encourages residents to report any shaking they felt through the “Did You Feel It?” (DYFI) program. These reports help track seismic activity in real-time, providing valuable data for local preparedness and response efforts.
