Residents in Lassen County experienced two earthquakes this weekend. A preliminary 3.6-magnitude quake struck at 11:48 a.m., centered roughly 6.5 miles north of Susanville, according to the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This tremor was felt widely across Susanville and surrounding areas, including Honey Lake Valley, Eagle Lake, and Willow Creek Valley. The quake had a “ShakeMap” intensity of IV, indicating light shaking throughout the area. This tremor was detected at a depth of nearly 6 kilometers.
A smaller 2.8-magnitude quake was reported near Round Valley Reservoir around 9 a.m., sending minor tremors.
