The Bureau of Land Management wants to know what you think. They are looking at speeding up fuel reduction treatments and fire protection efforts near high fire-risk areas on public lands. Over the next ten years they are hoping to complete treatments on nearly 900,000 acres through the Wildland-Urban Interface Program. This year alone the BLM has funded 55 fuels projects, 62 community assistance activities, and treated 26,000 acres across the state. Yet your opinion is needed to identify locations of priority for emergency access routes, utility corridors, infrastructure protection, and local economic values that are at risk should a wildfire occur.
