Residents and visitors near East Quincy may notice increased forestry activity as a wildfire resilience project gets underway this week.
Beginning July 15, J&C Enterprises is conducting fuels reduction work on nearly 91 acres adjacent to the East Quincy community and along La Porte Road. The project is designed to reduce vegetation that could fuel future wildfires.
Those recreating in the area are asked to use caution while work is underway. Officials advise keeping dogs on a leash, staying at least 500 feet away from heavy equipment and falling trees, and watching for a drone operating overhead. The drone is being used alongside a fire patrol to monitor treated areas as an added fire prevention measure.
The work is expected to continue until the project area has been completed. Those with questions can contact the Plumas County Fire Safe Council.
