SUSANVILLE, Calif., (May 16, 2026) – We regret to inform you that an equipment failure has occurred with the City’s largest well, which serves as the primary source of irrigation water for summer usage. As a result, we are currently relying on our backup well, albeit with a smaller pumping capacity. Given the circumstances, the City’s utmost concern revolves around ensuring an adequate water supply for fire
suppression purposes. Maintaining a sufficient volume of water in storage is critical to enhance the fire safety measures in Susanville.
Considering this situation, we kindly request the cooperation of all Susanville residents in reducing their outdoor watering activities by 25%. By collectively adhering to this measure, we aim to minimize water consumption and prioritize the preservation of our limited resources to maximize the city’s fire safety preparedness. Residents can help reduce water demand by doing the following:
o Limit outdoor irrigation or lawn watering
o Avoid washing vehicles, driveways, and sidewalks
o Postpone non- essential water use
o Reduce overall household water consumption whenever possible
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact the City of Susanville Public Works Department
