The skies over Susanville are set to light up tonight as the Lassen County Fairgrounds hosts its annual Independence Day celebration, bringing one of the region’s biggest holiday events to the heart of town.
According to the Lassen County Fairgrounds event schedule, the celebration runs July 3–4, with gates opening at 3 p.m. and fireworks expected to launch around 9:30 p.m. lassencountyfair.org
The fairgrounds event features food vendors, live entertainment, and family-friendly activities throughout the day, building up to the evening fireworks show that draws residents from across Lassen County and surrounding communities.
While the display itself lasts only a short time, organizers coordinate for weeks in advance with pyrotechnic crews, vendors, and public safety agencies to ensure the event runs smoothly and safely during the busy holiday period.
The fairgrounds have become a central hub for major community gatherings in Lassen County, and the Fourth of July celebration remains one of its signature summer events.
Safety is also a key focus each year, especially as Northern California remains in peak wildfire season, with local fire and law enforcement agencies closely involved in planning and standby operations during the event.
The celebration comes during a busy Independence Day travel period across the region, with thousands expected to head to lakes, campgrounds, and small-town festivities throughout Northeast California.
As night falls, the fireworks show will once again serve as the centerpiece of the celebration—marking Independence Day with a familiar burst of light and sound over Susanville.
