Plumas County residents may soon notice a fundraising letter in their mailbox from Plumas County Search and Rescue, as the all-volunteer organization begins its annual fundraising campaign.
The all-volunteer organization provides emergency search and rescue services across Plumas County, responding to incidents involving missing persons, wilderness rescues, remote medical emergencies, water-related incidents, and other situations that require specialized response in difficult-to-access areas.
According to the organization, volunteers responded to numerous missions throughout the county over the past year while supporting local law enforcement, fire agencies, and other emergency responders.
Search and Rescue officials say this year’s fundraising goal is $50,000. Funds raised will help support ongoing operations, volunteer training, equipment purchases and maintenance, and the completion of a new Search and Rescue Operations Center.
The proposed facility is expected to provide a permanent location for equipment storage, training activities, mission planning, and emergency response coordination.
Officials noted that the campaign is conducted entirely by team volunteers, with no outside fundraising firms involved. They say all funds raised will remain in Plumas County and be used to support local search and rescue operations.
Donation letters are currently being distributed countywide. Contributions may be mailed to Plumas County Search and Rescue at P.O. Box 1774 in Quincy or submitted through the organization’s online donation platform.
Search and Rescue leaders say community support plays an important role in helping the volunteer organization maintain its readiness to respond when emergencies occur.
