Unofficial Results Show New Supervisor in District 3, Continuity Elsewhere in Plumas County Elections

Plumas County voters have weighed in, and while the results remain unofficial, several races appear decided with all precincts reporting.

In the race for District 3 County Supervisor, challenger Shawn McKenzie secured a commanding victory over incumbent Douglas Brower, receiving 1,047 votes (74%) to Brower’s 367 votes (26%). Voter turnout in the district reached 59.5%, with all five precincts reporting.

The contest for District 5 County Supervisor was more competitive, with Jeff Engel emerging on top in a three-way race. Engel received 814 votes, outpacing challengers Nick Collin with 516 votes and Mimi Garner with 216 votes. A write-in candidate, Jeffrey LaMattina, collected 57 votes. Turnout in District 5 stood at approximately 64.5%, with all six precincts reporting.

In the countywide race for Treasurer-Tax Collector, Katharine Clift Clubb defeated Julie A. White, earning 3,696 votes to White’s 2,854. Countywide turnout was 57.5%, with all 29 precincts reporting.

Voters also rejected Measure B, the proposed 1% sales tax increase. The measure failed by a wide margin, with 5,086 voters casting ballots against it compared to 2,121 in favor. The result means the proposed tax increase will not move forward unless reconsidered through a future ballot measure.

Overall, turnout countywide reached 57.5%, with 7,572 ballots cast out of 13,166 registered voters.

Election officials emphasize that the results remain unofficial until the canvassing process is completed and certified. However, with 100% of precincts reporting, the outcomes are unlikely to change significantly.
