Firefighters made significant progress on two recent wildfires in Modoc County, with one fire now fully contained and another quickly brought under control.
The Mountain Fire, reported Friday about 7.5 miles southwest of Davis Creek and approximately one mile south-southeast of Dead Horse Reservoir on the Modoc National Forest, has been fully contained.
The fire was estimated at about five acres. Modoc National Forest crews, supported by engines, overhead personnel, and multiple aircraft, responded to the incident Friday evening. Fire officials say most resources have now been released, with firefighters returning to the scene to patrol the area and strengthen containment lines.
Meanwhile, CAL FIRE reports the Rocky Fire, burning south of Delta Lake, has reached 100 percent containment. The fire ultimately burned 298 acres after being reported earlier this week. Crews will continue with mop-up operations and monitor the fire until it is declared controlled.
No injuries or structure damage have been reported on either incident, and the causes of both fires remain under investigation.
