After thunderstorms swept through Modoc County , firefighters at the Modoc National Forest responded to several small lightning-caused fires. These fires were primarily single-tree ignitions and remained under an acre in size.
Lightning strike fires might occur several days after a thunderstorm has passed. Please report any wildfires you may come across while recreating on the U.S. Forest Service-Modoc National Forest

* IMPACTS…Abundant lightning on dry fuels will likely create new ignitions across the region. Any fires that develop could spread rapidly. Numerous new fires could start and overwhelm initial attack efforts.
* THUNDERSTORMS…Moving north and northeast at around 20 to 25 mph. Storm mode will be a mix of dry and wet thunderstorms.
