Get ready for quite the shake-up, Caltrans has begun blasting along Highway 44.

The commotion is caused by improvements to the highway’s Poison Lake area, part of the combined Shalas project.

Officials say you will hear loud booms as the rock is blasted away and removed to make way for the new curve alignment work. During this time, you will also encounter 24-hour traffic controls for up to three weeks.
