A third case of rabies was found in a gray fox near a home in Quincy. The gray fox was found dead outside of the home from the infection and was not believed to have been in close contact to any person. Plumas Public health reminds people that you can protect yourself from rabies by avoiding contact with wild animals and keeping your pets safe by immunizing them with the rabies vaccine. If you observe any wild or stray animals behaving unusual you can contact the Plumas county sheriff’s office at 283-6300.
