The clerk recorder’s office gave a report on the redistricting process for Lassen County at the Board of Supervisors meeting. The districts are up against a tight timeline to get districts redrawn. A significant rise in population occurred over the last ten years in Janesville, and the recommended population size in the district is challenged. The goal of the clerk recorder’s office is to keep the district lines very similar to where they currently lie. The proposal is to bring between 600 to 700 people from District 3 into District 5 to satisfy the population requirements. The board of supervisors has some homework to do as they will each draft their own ideas onto paper and submit them to the clerk recorder’s office prior to the public hearing meeting on redistricting. You can weigh in on the designs November 16th at 10 am in the Board Chambers at 707 Nevada street.
