HWY 395 and 36 are notorious for fast and aggressive drivers whether from travelers passing through from Reno and Redding, to locals passing slower truck drivers. Through a federal grant the CA highway patrol just received called the Regulate Aggressive Driving and Reduce Speed grant targets such driving behavior. As Bruce Public information officer with the Susanville CHP said, this grant will allow officers to take on overtime hours to dedicate their time specifically to mitigating aggressive and excessive speed drivers in areas that the city has identified as problematic. In the span of just over one year CHP has issued more than 44,000 tickets to drivers who exceeded 100 miles an hour. The grant extends through to October of next year.
