Firefighters continue to make progress on the 3-1 Fire burning southeast of Little Valley in eastern Lassen County, with containment now reaching 20 percent.

The fire threatened the community of Little Valley Tuesday, prompting evacuation orders for Zone LAS-141. Those orders were downgraded to warnings Tuesday evening before being lifted later that night after firefighters successfully held the fire west of the Pit River. Residents have since been allowed to return home, although officials continue to urge caution as firefighting operations remain active.

During the initial attack, the fire exhibited extreme behavior with short-range spotting, prompting the use of air tankers, helicopters, bulldozers, and night-flying aircraft. Retardant lines placed around much of the fire helped crews slow its spread and establish containment.

Fire officials continue to ask the public to stay out of the incident area and avoid interfering with emergency operations while suppression efforts continue.
