Clear Creek is quickly becoming overwhelmed by flood waters. The banks of Dry Creek, which runs through the middle of town, are swollen over and have turned the community park into what looks more like a pond.
Images shared on social media reveal the bridge in the park is nearly submerged, and the water’s edge creeps nearer to the road. The creek is a small run-off Hamilton Branch from Lake Alamnor, which according to the Almanor Fishing Association, lake levels have been rising as the snow melts under above-average temperatures, sitting at around 4500 feet.
The Lassen County Sheriffs’ office says despite the rising waters, there has only been one call for assistance in the community of Clear Creek, but they are in contact with the local fire department to assess the situation as needed.
