On June 5, the Clear Creek Community Services District issued a Boil Water Advisory for its customers. The advisory warns that E. coli bacteria were found in the district’s Spring Source.
E. coli presence suggests possible contamination with human or animal waste. This contamination can carry harmful pathogens that may cause stomach or intestinal illness.
The district and the State Water Resources Control Board Division of Drinking Water advise residents to use boiled or bottled water for drinking and cooking. Boil tap water for at least one minute before use. This applies to drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and food preparation.
The advisory highlights that people with weakened immune systems, infants, and elderly individuals face higher risks. If you experience symptoms like diarrhea, cramps, nausea, or headaches, consider consulting a healthcare provider.
Residents may notice higher chlorine levels in their water. This increase is intentional to help eliminate bacteria in the system.
Tests did not find E. coli in the distribution system, only in the Spring Source. The district is investigating contamination sources and expects to resolve the issue within seven days.
