Bear Hunting in California may come to an end, at least temporarily, after today. The CA fish and wildlife commission will be holding its second hearing on the petition from the Humane Society. Their petition claims that the CDFW does not have enough population data to continue to allow for the hunting of bears until more research has been conducted. This comes as the humane society feels wildfires have significantly impacted bear populations across the state. Yet in a report from the Fish and wildlife in Lassen County bear populations have in fat increased. The state department of Fish and Wildlife will present its findings of the review of the petition at today’s hearing. There will be a time for you to comment during the hearing, and then afterwards the commission will make its decision. The meeting began at 8:30 you can access the link by visiting https://fgc.ca.gov/Meetings/2022.
