With their backs against the wall and their 2025 season on the line, Feather River won two elimination games against Cabrillo College to advance to next week’s Super Regional.

After falling to the Seahawks on Thursday, the Golden Eagles bounced back with 12-4 and 11-5 victories to move another step into the 3C2A NorCal bracket. Feather River will now host a three-team tournment, beginning next Thursday. The Golden Eagles will be joined by the winner of the Sacramento City-Ohlone series, and the victor of the Sierra-Canada playoff.

Feather River, after producing just six hits in a 10-6 loss on Thursday, pounded out 33 hits and pushed across 23 runs on Friday during the must-win games. Dylan Marx had six of those hits (6-for-9), as did Shane Danley (6-for-9).

In the opener, Feather River built a 6-0 lead through three and a half innings and rolled from there. Marx had three doubles and Danley had four of his hits in the bash fest, driving in four runs. Toby ParryNick Anderson and Grant McGuire had two base knocks each in the 17-hit attack.

Defensively, head coach Terry Baumgartner sent five pitchers to the mound, with Gavin Moreno doing the bulk of the work. The starter went 4.1 innings and gave up two hits, one run and he walked four. He came up a couple of outs shy of qualifying for the win, so Jayden Andrade grabbed that with 3.2 innings, two hits, one run and five strikeouts.

In the second game, it got dicey in the beginning. Cabrillo scored in each of the first three innings to take a 4-0 lead. But the Golden Eagles got the bats going after that with a run in the fourth, two in the fifth and then they erupted for five in the sixth. They would end up with 14 hits, 13 of them singles. Marx had three, Danley two and Kory Chu and Grant McGuire added two safeties. Chu also stole home.

On the mound, Will Page-Allen made sure the Seahawks were kept off the board late in the game. He went four innings to close out the contest, allowing three hits, no earned runs, a walk and eight stikeouts

The Golden Eagles will take a 33-10 record into next week’s round.

“We got contributions from a lot of players today,” said Baumgartner. “We showed some fortitude to bounce back after yesterday. I am just so happy for our guys to be able to stretch our season and keep it going. We are looking forward to a great tournament next weekend.”
