The annual campaign is officially underway. For the next three months, officers and staff are putting down their razors and shaking up their grooming routines—all for charity.

Public Safety Chief Bollinger has given the green light for male officers to grow facial hair outside the usual strict grooming rules. Female officers can join in too, with relaxed hair standards including ponytails, dyed hair, and even a little extra jewelry. Even the non-sworn staff gets to have some fun, embracing more casual looks with relaxed grooming and uniform standards.

But it’s all about giving back. Each month, the department will be raising money for a different cause:

  • October funds will be donated to Northern California Cancer Advocates
  • November to Lassen County Holiday with a Hero
  • December to Camp Ronald McDonald at Eagle Lake

The campaign is open on a month-by-month basis, and each donation helps support these vital organizations. So, keep an eye out around town for some freshly grown beards, new hairstyles, and more—all for a great cause.
