Caltrans will begin a series of repair maintenance projects for 17 bridges in Lassen, Plumas, and Tehama Counties. The $5.2 million projects, fully funded by the Road Repair and Accountability Act (S.B. 1), aim to improve travel conditions and facilitate the seamless movement of freight trucks.
Beginning Monday, July 24th, the project will involve crucial rehabilitation efforts, including polyester concrete overlays and joint seal and abutment work. Caltrans Director Tony Tavares emphasized the importance of these repairs, saying it will conduct the needed rehabilitation efforts to keep traffic moving safely on these structures for years to come.”
You should be prepared for potential one-way traffic control and up to 5-minute weekday delays during daytime hours. In addition, night work is planned for the Susan River Bridge, while lane and shoulder closures are expected at the Evans Canyon undercrossing on 395.
The bridge rehabilitation projects will be seen across the Susan River and Bailey Creek bridges on State Route 36, Pit River Bridge on State Route 299, Evans Canyon under crossing, Long Valley Creek Bridge, and Long Valley Creek Overflow Bridge on U.S. 395, Chipps Creek, North Fork Feather River, Indian Creek, and Spanish Creek Bridges on State Route 70, Middle Fork Feather River Bridge, Wolf Creek bridge, and Lake Almanor Spillway are on State Route 89, Hamilton Branch Bridge on 147, and lastly the Deer Creek Bridges on State Route 32.
Construction will continue until winter, with a completion date tentatively set for April of 2024.
