As the summer recreation season reaches its midpoint, Plumas National Forest staff and their concessionaire continue to make repairs and improvements across the forest’s recreational facilities.
Forest Service officials warn some of the work has prompted a few closures for the week.
Three Lakes Road is closed during work hours for hazard tree removal. Caribou Road is also closed during work hours north of Mosquito Creek for landslide repairs, and Antelope Lake Road is closed during the week for ongoing repairs.
The overflow camping area at Little Beaver Campground and Little Grass Valley Reservoir Recreation Area are closed due to water availability, and the public is being asked to help conserve water. This includes ensuring faucets are completely shut off and reporting leaks to recreation staff.
The boat dock at Gold Lake in the Beckwourth Ranger District is in the water. However, the gangway is being repaired, and caution should be used when getting on and off the dock.
Stage 2 Fire Restrictions took effect in the Plumas National Forest on Friday, July 12. Campfires are only allowed in established campfire rings in specifically designated recreation sites with campground hosts present.
The public is asked to use caution with anything that can spark a wildfire, especially as the weather forecast is for continued hot, dry weather and a chance of thunderstorms and lightning.
