Plumas Sierra Rural Electric had received funding for Dixie Fire Recovery after a year and a half wait.
Congressman Doug LaMalfa has announced that he secured a substantial grant of over 1.3 million dollars from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for the Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative. This grant is intended to cover the costs incurred by the 2021 Dixie Fire, which devastated the area.
This funding will cover 90% of the total project’s cost and will be used to restore the Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative’s facility and operations back to its pre-disaster design. The Congressman highlighted the struggles faced by residents and businesses in the affected area, and he has been working to ensure they receive the federal assistance they need to rebuild.
In his statement, Congressman LaMalfa said, “Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative, like many throughout the North State, is still trying to rebuild following the destruction of the 2021 Dixie Fire. LaMalfa added that although he no longer represents Plumas or Sierra county in Congress, he was pleased that this funding finally came through after a year and a half.
This is welcome news for the Plumas-Sierra Rural Electric Cooperative, which will provide updates on further developments.
