Due to increasing fire danger caused by hot summer weather and drying fuel conditions, Plumas National Forest will initiate Stage I Fire Restrictions.
While a delayed fire season was experienced due to a historic winter and wet spring, officials are urging caution as the area faces a heightened risk of wildfires. Under the restrictions, campfires are limited to designated sites with established rings, smoking is allowed only within enclosed vehicles or designated areas, and chainsaw use is permitted for firewood with daily status checks. California Campfire Permits holders can use gas-fueled devices with safety measures.
The forest service reminds visitors that compliance with the restrictions is vital to prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the forest from further devastation.
