Plumas National Forest is holding their Firefighter training program. The program will cover training for 40 hours to receive a red card for Basic land wildfire.

This program provides entry level for those curious about what it takes to become a land fire firefighter and enter the Fire Department as a career.  It starts in April and will continue into May on the weekends, and those who receive the red card will be on-call wildland wildfire fighters.

Chief Moore from the Susanville Fire Department announced at the beginning of March that the Department has been approved to hire three positions for this fire season. Interest parties could be graduating high school students or those from a training college program. The National Forest offering a red card covers basic abatement removal, required fire hydrant flows, mentorship, and equipment testing. Sign-ups are this Saturday at 10 am at the Feather River Range District Office.
