Plumas County Students Gain Farm to Table Experience Through School Collaboration

SHARE NOW

Plumas County high school students are getting hands-on experience in the kitchen and on the farm through an exciting collaboration between local schools and the #FarmtoSchool initiative!

Students from Indian Valley Academy and Quincy High School recently visited the farm to harvest fresh produce and herbs, bringing those ingredients straight back to the classroom to cook delicious farm-to-table meals using produce from Rugged Roots.

Organized by Local Sierra Food Project (LSFP) staff in partnership with school culinary instructors, these field trips are part of Career Technical Education (CTE) programs across the Plumas Unified School District and Plumas Charter School. By connecting directly with CTE programs, LSFP is forging deeper partnerships with local schools and building innovative pathways to bring fresh, locally grown food to students across Plumas County.
