Pacific Gas and Electric Company is resuming its refurbishing work on the Lower Bucks Lake spillway, with an expected completion date in late 2025. The project began last year with half of the spillway already replaced.
PG&E officials say campgrounds and day-use areas will remain open during construction. Campers should expect construction noise and vehicles from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, and occasionally on Sundays and public holidays.
The work is set to start on Sunday, June 1, and continue through December. PG&E is undertaking this project to replace the spillway, which has reached the end of its useful life.
The Lower Bucks Lake is located about 15 miles southwest of Quincy in the Plumas National Forest. Bucks Lake, situated upstream, will not be affected by the project and will remain open for recreation and camping.
