PG&E May Shut Off Power for Safety in Plumas County, Favorable Weather Removes Sierra from Scope

PG&E is closely monitoring a potential wind event that could trigger a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) for about 20,000 customers across 24 counties, including 316 customers in Plumas County. The safety measure aims to reduce wildfire risks due to dry vegetation and strong winds. However, favorable weather conditions, including recent rainfall in the Sierras, have led PG&E to remove Sierra County from the list of potential shutoffs.

Customers in the affected areas have been notified, and PG&E encourages residents to check their status at pge.com/pspsupdates. Community Resource Centers will be available in impacted counties to provide basic services such as device charging and access to information.

PG&E advises all customers to be prepared by securing backup power sources, using battery-operated lights, and keeping refrigerators closed to preserve food during outages.
