Park Fire Rages East of Chico: Crews Battle 45,550 Acre Blaze

The Park Fire, which ignited on July 24, continues to burn aggressively in Upper Bidwell Park, east of Chico. The wildfire has already scorched 45,550 acres and is currently only 3% contained, posing a significant threat to the area. Extensive evacuation orders and warnings were issued.

The Park Fire demonstrated dynamic fire activity overnight. Despite a steady temperature in the 80s and challenging wind conditions, three helicopters were able to conduct night operations, targeting hot spots. Today’s forecast predicts more hot, dry weather with a steady breeze from the south, which may exacerbate the fire conditions. CAL FIRE Incident Management Team 3 is leading the firefighting efforts today.
