If you have dead or dying trees in Janesville or Milford, the Lassen Fire Safe Council has a free program to take advantage of. In cooperation with Cal Fire and funding through the California Climate Investments Program, the LFSC can remove hazardous trees that could damage your home.
Not only has the Dixie Fire damaged many trees throughout the area, but the council is also looking for Ips Engraver beetle infestations that can lead to decaying trees falling on your property. Some signs that the Ips engraver beetle is in your tree are a fading or dead top and blue staining on recently cut wood. You can also often find red pitch tubes on the tree’s base from Red Turpentine beetles that will pair with the Ips engraver beetle.
