The Plumas County Public Works Department and Waste Management announce that community members can drop off unwanted tires during two free tire collection events to encourage safe tire disposal and prevent illegal dumping. The tire amnesty events will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The events will be held in two locations simultaneously:

  • Outside the Chester Transfer Station in the snowmobile parking lot at Highway 36 and County Road A-13
  • In the parking lot of the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds, 204 Fairground Road in Quincy

These events are open to Plumas County residents only, with a limit of nine tires per trip. Proof of residency is required.

Organizers invite residents to bring their unwanted tires to be collected for recycling, free of charge. This event covers passenger and light truck tires only; tires from heavy equipment, trailers and semi trucks will not be accepted.

Waste Management asks that residents remove rims from tires.
