The Plumas County Fire Safe Council reports that months of collaboration in partnership with the American Red Cross have resulted in local implementation of the Sound the Alarm program.
The Sound the Alarm program provides free smoke detectors, helping to ensure that every home is equipped with this life-saving device, said organizers. Working smoke alarms can cut the risk of death from home fires in half.
The council works with fire departments, Firewise communities and other community partners to install free smoke alarms in the community and promote fire safety.
Those interested in signing up can complete an online questionnaire. Once there are enough sign-ups in a specific area, organizers will follow up with available appointment times. Appointments take approximately 30 minutes.
Visits are available to occupied homes only. An adult must be present, and a service acknowledgment form must be filled out. Fire safe education will be presented.
More information, including help with scheduling and details about visit logistics, is available from program manager Dale Ready at [email protected] or 530-927-5349.
