Lake Almanor is expected to be 3 to 4 feet below normal this summer. The areas below average rainfall and well below average snow pack this winter was discussed during a PG&E Lake Level Committee meeting in Chester to review the company’s seasonal recreation activities, environmental needs, and electric power operations. It was determined the Alamnor Basin is at 74% of average with spring runoff being predicted at 42% of average. Yet bucks Lake is the opposite as it is expected that the lake will top off 3 feet above average. Grizzly Powerhouse has yet to be restored to service and spillway work at Lower Bucks dam will also keep the lake full throughout summer, falling only by a few feet by Labor day. Butt Valley reservoir is also expected to be within its normal water level range through summer.
