The Janesville Fire Department celebrated a milestone with a traditional push-in ceremony for its new Engine 421, marking the official start of service for this state-of-the-art addition to the fleet.
The push-in ceremony is a time-honored fire service tradition, dating back to the days when horse-drawn fire wagons were used. After returning from a call, firefighters would dismount and manually push the wagons back into the station bays. By recreating this practice, today’s firefighters pay homage to their predecessors and the history of the fire service.
The department expressed its gratitude to everyone involved in acquiring the new engine, emphasizing that it represents a collective investment in the safety and well-being of Janesville’s community.
