The National Weather Service has forecasted a significant rainstorm expected to bring up to two inches of rain to the foothills and mountain areas on Monday, November 11, 2024. This first major rainfall of the season raises concerns of potential debris flows and flooding within the Park Fire burn scar areas.

In response, the Butte County Sheriff’s Office, Chico Police Department, Chico Fire Department, and CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department will hold a media briefing on Friday, November 8, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. The briefing aims to inform the public about the risks associated with the incoming storm and the dangers it poses for those residing or traveling near the affected areas.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office and CAL FIRE/Butte County Fire Department will livestream the media briefing on their official Facebook pages, allowing community members to stay informed about safety precautions and preparedness measures as winter weather approaches.

Sheriff Honea, alongside other public safety officials, will address these concerns and share critical information to help residents prepare for the potential impact of heavy rainfall in these vulnerable areas.

Community members are encouraged to tune in to the briefing and take necessary precautions ahead of the incoming storm.
