Caltrans is set to kick off a major paving project on State Route 89 near Greenville on November 4th, weather permitting, with plans to wrap up by mid-December. The $1.9 million project, funded entirely by SB 1—the 2017 Road Repair and Accountability Act—is a welcome upgrade for locals and travelers alike.

Starting at the Greenville Wye and extending south toward Dixie Canyon Road, the project aims to enhance road quality with fresh paving, striping, and shoulder work. Dave Moore, Caltrans District 2 Director, highlighted the importance of the work, saying it will “keep the pavement on this section of highway in good standard for years to come.”

Motorists should plan for single-lane traffic control with possible 20-minute delays Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and are reminded to drive carefully, especially with temporary speed reductions in place around construction zones.

While the project is on track to finish before year’s end, weather conditions could impact the timeline. For updates, residents and drivers can follow Caltrans District 2 on social media, visit the District 2 webpage, or call the project hotline at (530) 225-3426.
