Heads Up for Blasting Work on 299

Caltrans is warning you to be aware of a blasting project coming to highway 299. If you are in North county and heading into the Redding area, you will be affected by the work. Blasting begins on the Ingot Curve Improvement Project on State Route 299 this Monday, October 31.

The project aims to improve the corridor’s safety by widening the shoulders, increasing sight distances, and creating a clear recovery area near Ingot, from two miles east of Seamans Gulch Road to just west of Du Bois Road. The stretch has seen many severe collisions in the past.
During this phase of work, you can plan for one-way traffic control and intermittent full closures, with 30-minute delays, when blasting occurs.

Work will be inconsistent throughout the week during daytime hours over the next 3 to 4 weeks.

If you’re planning to drive through this area in the next few weeks, slow down, drive carefully, and add extra time for delays.
