Chris Lopez, Bob Nelson, Geri Byrne, and Miles Menetrey are key figures in the Rural County Representatives of California (RCRC), an organization representing 40 rural counties in California. RCRC, founded in 1972, advocates for rural county issues at both the state and federal levels, focusing on areas like land use, water resources, housing, transportation, wildfire protection, and health services. The organization aims to enhance the quality of life in these regions and promote understanding of the unique challenges faced by small-population counties.

Congressman Doug LaMalfa administered the Oath of Office to the RCRC 2025 Officers. Geri Byrne, a Modoc County District V Supervisor first elected in 2010, was installed as the new Chair. Byrne has been active in Northern California, participating in various boards and committees, including the Golden State National Resources Board and the United States Border Collie Handlers Association. In her new role, Byrne expressed her enthusiasm for building on past leadership and working collaboratively to support rural communities and ensure their prosperity.
