Daylight Saving Time Ends: Remember to Set Clocks Back This Weekend

As the end of Daylight Saving Time approaches, residents are reminded to set their clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night. The time change officially takes effect at 2 a.m. on Sunday, marking the transition back to Standard Time.

This seasonal time adjustment, which occurs each year on the first Sunday in November, brings an extra hour of sleep, but it also signals shorter days and earlier sunsets. For many, the shift serves as a reminder to check household items like smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms to ensure they’re functioning properly.

While the practice of changing clocks has sparked debate over its necessity, supporters say the time change helps conserve energy and maximize daylight hours in the morning. Opponents, however, argue that the disruption can affect sleep patterns and overall well-being.

Whether it’s welcomed or not, the return to Standard Time means more daylight in the early hours and darker evenings as we approach winter. The next time change won’t come until the second Sunday in March, when clocks will “spring forward” once again.

For now, don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour, enjoy the extra sleep, and get ready for the shorter days ahead.
