The incident unfolded when an Alturas police officer tried to pull over Jarrett Lancaster, who was driving without a license and under community post-release supervision for evading officers last June. Ignoring the officer’s Lancaster accelerated to speeds exceeding 100 mph, evading capture as the officer lost sight of the vehicle.
Later that day, a sheriff’s deputy spotted the same vehicle speeding along Hwy 299 and attempted another stop, only for Lancaster to engage in yet another high-speed pursuit, surpassing 100 mph.
As the chase continued for over an hour, more deputies joined in, leading the pursuit through the city of Alturas and into the rural areas of Modoc County, eventually making their way into the national forest.
The chase concluded when Lancaster attempted to ram a sheriff’s vehicle. However, quick thinking by a deputy resulted in Lancaster’s car being forced off the road and onto the gravel, effectively ending the pursuit.
Both Lancaster and his passenger, Tiffany Breiner from Stockton, were arrested at the scene. They now face felony charges, including evading law enforcement, assault with a deadly weapon, reckless driving, drug possession, and violating post-release supervision. Both individuals are booked into the Modoc County jail.
The Modoc County Sheriff’s Office revealed that this is not Lancaster’s first brush with the law. Marking this his third arrest since January. Lancaster was only recently released on July 10th, after being apprehended in May for once again violating his supervised release.
