The Standish-Litchfield Fire Department gets a new fire engine. The Bureau of Land Management transferred ownership of their 2007 wildland fire engine to the department to bolster the rural departments’ capabilities to fight fires. The Standish-Litchfield Fire Department often assists the BLM with wildfires on public lands near your small communities. This additional engine improves their ability to support other agencies in fire suppression, as BLM Eagle Lake Field Office Manager Emily Ryan said. The truck has a 500-gallon water tank; the pump can pump water from the tank or draft water from other sources. The BLM Rural Fire Readiness Program made the new apparatus available to the department.
