As many neighboring counties begin water reductions in response to the 3rd dry year, the City Susanville is off to a better start. Bob Godman, Public works director shared the city has increased its water storage capacity by 1 million gallons with 5 water storage tanks total and the recent purchase of the Berry Creek reservoir gives the city additional time to avoid any state official orders for water reductions. 2016 was the last year the city was forced to implement any type of restrictions where you were asked to conserve by 25% through alternating landscape water days and the like. With this increase in water storage and a third year in drought throughout the state, Susanville will be able to buy more time before you can begin to see any kind of water restrictions.
