The Department of Water Resources will allow a modest increase in state water project deliveries due to December’s storms. The state will increase allocations to 15 percent of the requested supplies for the year. This is good news for the 29 water agencies contracted to get water from the state’s water project supply as previously the DWR was only allotting enough water to cover critical health and safety needs. Yet despite the increase the DWR recognizes the state is still in a drought and will continue to preserve water storage in Lake Oroville, the State water projects largest reservoir.
