Alturas Waste Management serviced homes receive an increase in garbage and trash collection fees. Waste management argued for a higher increase largely due to the increase of fuel prices at almost 11 percent. Yet the city’s contract with waste management limited increases of no more than 6 percent in any one year regardless of consumer price index and fuel index increases. Commercial properties will start seeing a higher bill come February 1st while homeowners will see the increase starting in April. Some Plumas county homes will also see an increase as the Plumas board of supervisors just approved a rate increase for homes serviced by Feather River Disposal, as they are contractually obligated. The increase is higher at 7 and a half percent.
