Feather River Community College is seeking to add a new bachelor’s program. President Kevin Trutna shared the school has applied for the additional degree in Ecosystem Restoration and Applied Fire Management. This program gives graduates the ability to respond to and prevent catastrophic wildfires through skills learned in healthy forest management, prescribed fire, and forest and riparian restoration. Trutna believes given the backyard of Plumas county this degree compliments the necessity of the need for a more skilled forest health management workforce and hopes the State recognizes the priority. The deadline for approval of the Bachelor’s degree by the state is May 31st. FRC currently offers one bachelor’s degree in Equine and Ranch Management.
