The Susanville School District has announced several leadership changes set to take effect in the 2026–2027 school year, marking a period of transition for two local campuses.
The changes come as Meadow View School Principal Mrs. Klinock and McKinley Elementary School Principal Ms. Cockerill prepare to retire. District officials thanked both administrators for their years of service, noting their efforts in supporting students, staff and families and helping keep their schools on track.
As part of the transition, Diamond View Middle School Principal Mrs. Heimbigner has accepted a transfer and will take over as principal at McKinley Elementary next school year.
During her time at Diamond View Middle School, Heimbigner led staff and students through a milestone achievement: earning a California Distinguished School Award for the first time in district history. District leaders described the move as “bittersweet,” citing Heimbigner’s strong connection to the Diamond View campus and its community.
The transition also carries personal significance for Heimbigner. McKinley Elementary is the first school she attended as a student in Susanville. District officials shared that she looks forward to returning to the campus in a leadership role, building relationships at the primary level and embracing what she describes as a “coming home” opportunity.
The district said it will soon begin the search for new principals for Meadow View School and Diamond View Middle School, adding that it is committed to finding high-quality leaders to support students and staff.
Additional updates on the leadership search process are expected in the coming months.
