Seneca Healthcare District (SHD) is pleased to announce the relaunch and enhancement of its Swing Bed Program alongside the addition of Laurie Endres, PT, a highly experienced physical therapist who has been brought on to help head up the program. The addition of Laurie allows SHD to strengthen and expand its Swing Bed services and begin accepting eligible patients for this vital level of care.
Laurie brings over 30 years of leadership and hands‑on rehabilitation experience, including her recent role as Manager of Rehabilitation and Cardiopulmonary Services at Clark Fork Valley Hospital. Her background includes oversight of PT, OT, Speech Therapy, Respiratory Therapy, Home Oxygen programs, as well as performance improvement, community outreach, and full-spectrum patient care across acute, swing bed, outpatient, long-term care, and home settings. These skills directly strengthen SHD’s commitment to offering exceptional, patient-centered recovery services close to home.
About the Swing Bed Program – Recover Close to Home
A Swing Bed Program is a Medicare‑approved service that allows hospitals to transition (“swing”) patients from acute care to short-term recovery using skilled nursing care, before they are ready to return home. It also supports short‑term recovery for patients who no longer require acute hospitalization but are not yet ready to return home.
SHD’s Swing Bed Program provides:
- 24/7 nursing care
- Physical therapy services
- Individualized rehabilitation plans designed for progress and safety
- Care in a familiar, local environment
- A focus on restoring independence following surgery, illness, or injury
To ensure high-quality care and regulatory compliance, SHD will prioritize accepting patients who live within close proximity to our service area. This is essential to ensure that every Swing Bed patient has a viable and safe discharge plan, including adequate home support, follow‑up care, and resources once they return home.
“Our refreshed Swing Bed Program is about bridging the gap between hospital and home with the right level of support,” said Judith Cline, CNO of SHD. “Laurie’s deep experience, leadership, and passion for patient-centered care will ensure our community receives top-quality rehabilitation services without having to travel far.”
Laurie Endres, PT: A Strong Addition to Seneca’s Care Team
Laurie’s professional experience includes:
- Leadership of multi-disciplinary rehabilitation teams (PT/OT/SLP/RT/Home O₂)
- Budget development, program growth, and regulatory compliance
- Accreditation and performance improvement leadership
- Hands-on patient care in acute, swing bed, outpatient, and long-term care settings
- Advanced training in wound care and lymphedema management
- A dedicated, community-centered approach to improving patient outcomes
“I’m thrilled to join Seneca and support the relaunch of the Swing Bed Program,” said Laurie Endres, PT. “Recovery should happen close to home, surrounded by familiar faces and strong support. I look forward to helping patients regain strength, function, and independence right here in our community.”
