Portola High School 9th graders headed out to the Sierra Valley Preserve November 6th to learn about our land and collect observations for a project called “Write the Land.” After completing a scavenger hunt at the nature center where they learned about native plants, animals, and people, they walked two different trails and stopped to write down observations. At one point, they even saw two wolves loping through the valley! As a part of their English class, they will use these observations to write poetry about a theme connected to the land they call home.
