Firefighters across the Shasta-Trinity National Forest will continue with prescribed fire operations today Monday, November 10th, 2025. We estimate this work to continue through Friday, November 14th, 2025, as weather conditions allow and pending all required approvals. We use prescribed fires to help reduce overgrown vegetation to help protect local communities, infrastructure and natural resources from wildfires.
Prescribed fires planned for the area include:
• Weaverville RD – Trinity Camps (Airport) pile Rx near Trinity Center Airport & Trinity Camps (Ridgeville) Pile Rx (South end of Bowerman Ridge) (80-100 acres) 11/10-11/14
• McCloud RD – Lower McCloud Bear Trap hand piles, near Cabin Creek Trailhead south of the community of McCloud. Ignitions planned (60 acres) 11/10-11/13

• Shasta Lake RD – I-5 (Skyline) pile Rx; (Piles created through partnership with Western Shasta RCD and a Forest Health Grant funded by the state of California.) (20 acres) 11/12
Those areas may close to the public for several days for public safety. Watch for warning signs along roads near all prescribed fire areas before and during burns.
Residents may experience smoke during the prescribed burns. For more detailed information about air quality, go to https://fire.airnow.gov/ online or download the app. When driving, slow down and turn on your headlights when you encounter smoke on the road.
We will evaluate weather conditions in the hours before a burn begins. If conditions warrant, scheduled prescribed fire activities may be canceled.
