Starting on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, paving crews will begin night work on the Susanville 139 Paving Project located on State Route 139. Motorists can expect traffic control during night-time operations from September 3-5. Beginning on September 8th, motorists will encounter one-way traffic control during the day as paving and guardrail work continue north of Spring Ridge Road.
- September 3-5: One-way traffic control with pilot car at night. Mon-Fri
- Beginning Sept 8: One-way traffic control with pilot car during the day, north of Spring Ridge Rd. Mon-Fri
Expected delays are up to 10 minutes. On unpaved surfaces 24-hour traffic control is required.
Note: There is no traffic control or delays during the Labor Day weekend.
Please note that plans have been made to accommodate emergency vehicles needing to pass through the project limits during construction. Motorists needing to travel through the construction area should plan ahead and leave early to ensure they arrive at their destination on-time.
The purpose of this project is to restore the roadway to a state of good repair so that State Route 139 will be in a condition that requires minimal maintenance. The project includes rehabilitating the roadway, replacing six curb ramps, upgrading guardrail, upgrading concrete barrier, widening shoulders in select locations, replacing/upgrading signage, a traffic signal and culverts. The project will also bring American with Disabilities Act (ADA) elements to current standards.
This $15 million project includes 145 working days, all requiring traffic control. The project is expected to be completed by November of 2025.
Hat Creek Construction & Materials Inc., North Region Construction, and Caltrans District 2 would like to thank the public and local communities for their patience during the construction of this project.
